Application: Aerospace Routing & Robot Studio Software
Robot Studio Software, allowing of line programming and generation of robot path from CAD data, provided an invaluable assist to the success of this GeKu designed routing cell.
Installed with 3 specially designed work tables, which tilt to present a more suitable elevation of the parts to the robot, the cell allows continuous production, even during component loading/unloading and tool change. Once in production, the robot automatically identifies the component currently in progress and selects from a storage rack, the required routing tool for the task in hand. Aircraft skin panel profiles are then routed, and where require, tooling holes are also machined. The work table then returns to the horizontal position to allow removal of the routed panel by the operator. Meanwhile the robot moves to one of the other two work stations to machine a new part. Rise and fall gates ensure each work station is protected during product or tool change operations and a high speed, water cooled, servo controlled router ensures optimum cutting speed and quality of surface finish in a single cut operation.
