Application: Injection Moulding Machine Tending

A manufacturing cell including a high speed Geku Cartesian robot, together with a 6 axis ABB robot and specially designed peripheral equipment are installed to an injection moulding machine to manufacture a wide range of plastic novelty badges.

The GeKu SR 260 robot first demoulds and places the parts (still attached to the runner) into a custom made fixture. The same robot then collects from a magazine, a special pre-printed transfer and places it over the mouldings ready for printing. The fixture is transferred into specially designed heated press and after being printed, the waste transfer sheet is removed, again by the GeKu robot. The transfer then moves back under the press and a gloss foil is then applied. The 6 axis robot then picks the parts and runner system and places them into a second fixture where the parts are cut a way from the runner and collected in a container positioned on an indexing conveyor. The runner system is then placed into a granulator, where it is recycled in a closed loop feed system.
