Application: Die Casting Machine Tending
Designed as a mobile cell to allow removal from the machine for tool change access, or for operation on one or more similar Die Casting Machines, the installation is unusual as it is tending a relatively small (20 Tonne) die casting machine. Uniquely, the installation of the robot did not add to the overall machine cycle when compared to the previous semi automatic method of production.
The robot removes parts from the tool, checks integrity (all parts removed) before allowing consent to next cycle. It then separates the parts into segregated containers, allowing tractability, before placing the runner back into the furnace.
The ABB robot selected for the system, including the “Foundry Plus” option is a fast, robust machine, designed for trouble free operation in harshest of environments.
