Machine Tending
Rotherham based zinc diecasting manufacturer, PMS, have a number Geku Automation Machine Tending cells.
Each cell consists of an ABB 140 robot and specialised handling station. The robot tends the machine by removing product before offering it to a vision camera for quality inspection checks. After the quality of each cavity is analysed, the component is held by the robot while a specially designed removal device seperates the parts selectively from the runner. Only parts which have passed the quality checks are removed, the failed parts are immediately recycled into the furnace still attached to the runner system. In this way, the tool can continue to run until a conveneint opourtunity in the production window arises to allow repair. The good parts are guided into seperate tote bins so that full product traceability is available if required.
Each system currently has an overall cycle time of 8-10 seconds.
