Aluminium Routing
Geku Automation installed a robotic cell into the aerospace industry. The application would see an ABB 4400L robot routing various wing panels for an executive jet.
Using ABB's powerful robot studio software, we were able to program approximately 25 product variants using only CAD data imported into the virtual robot package. A tolerance band of +/-0.2mm for the finished component was comfortably achieved.
Since the installation, any modifications or new programs that are required are created offline, sent via email and uploaded directly to the robot controller, this has been extremely cost effective solution for the customer.
The robot is mounted in the centre of a 3 workstation production cell, each station is equipped with pneumatically operated rise and fall gates. An automatic tool change system is used to accomodate for the different routing and drilling patterns.
Key Benefits:
- Accuracies only achieved via automation
- Increased productivity
- New components easily incorporated
