Aluminium Sawing

Geku Automation have installed a fully automated Machining Cell for a major West Midlands Aluminum Die Casting Company.

A Kuka KR140 robot is mounted on a platform between two workstations, each equipped with rise and fall gates. The operator loads a part onto the fixturing and after the safety gate closes, a robot held 400mm circular saw is used to cut the waste material away from the casting. The robot then docks the circular saw into a tool change station and picks a pneumatically operated router to clean around the sawn joints and the flash lines.

To accommodate for the product variants, the fixturing is equipped with a binary code for the robot to automatically identify the product type.

Please press the Play button to see the system in action.
